General Questions

Every piece is chosen for its ability to contribute meaningfully to a personal collection or interior.

Do you work with international collectors and clients?

Yes. ORTAK works with private collectors, interior designers and project clients in the UK and internationally. Delivery options, customs requirements and any applicable duties will be considered individually depending on the destination and artwork.

Can I view an artwork in person before purchasing?

In-person viewings may be possible depending on the location of the artwork and the artist. Please contact us with the work you are interested in, and we will confirm whether a viewing can be arranged. We can also provide additional photographs, videos and detailed information to help you consider the piece remotely.

Artwork

Are all artworks original and include a Certificate of Authenticity?

All works available through ORTAK are authentic and sourced directly from the artist or an approved studio representative. Original works are one of a kind, while prints and editions will always be clearly identified within the artwork description.

Where applicable, each work is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity confirming details such as the artist, title, medium, dimensions, year of creation and edition number.

Do artist prices ever change?

Yes. ORTAK works with artists at significant stages in their careers, and prices may evolve as their practice and market develop.

Solo exhibitions, gallery representation, institutional recognition, press coverage and collector demand can all influence the value of an artist’s work. Pricing is reviewed periodically and may therefore change without notice.

When a particular work speaks to you, we recommend enquiring while it remains available, as its current price cannot be guaranteed indefinitely.

What frames do you use?

Our frames are made from high-quality wood. Each frame is custom-cut and assembled by hand to suit the individual artwork, with hanging hardware included.

Thin Gallery Frame

This modern profile is designed with artists and photographers in mind. Narrow at the front and deeper at the sides, the slim moulding creates a clean, understated finish that keeps the focus on the artwork.

19 mm wide; 29 mm deep

¾ inch wide; 1⅛ inches deep

UV-Protective Acrylic

Our framing-grade acrylic offers greater clarity than standard glass, is significantly more impact-resistant and helps protect artwork from damaging UV rays. Because of these benefits, acrylic has become a widely used standard in contemporary framing.

Full Bleed

The artwork is framed flush to the edge, without a mount. Border adjustments and spacers can also be requested to prevent the work from coming into direct contact with the glazing.

Matted

This option includes a white-core mount with a bevel-cut opening around the artwork. Where a work includes a signature or edition number, the mount will be cut to ensure these details remain visible unless otherwise requested.

We use four-ply, conservation-grade, acid-free mount board and carefully match white or off-white tones to the individual piece. Acid-free materials help protect artwork from yellowing, discolouration and brittleness over time.

Floating allows the full face and edges of the artwork to remain visible. This approach is particularly suitable for original drawings, paintings and works created on hand-cut or specially finished paper.

We use a low-profile frame style. For most smaller works, the visible face of the frame is approximately ¾” wide, increasing to around 1” for larger pieces. The most common frame depth, measured from the wall to the front of the frame, is approximately 1¼”.

Floated

Each framed work includes hanging hardware. You may still need to purchase screws or wall fixings suitable for your wall type.

For further information about framing, please contact us at orders@ortakworks.com.

Can an artwork be reserved?

Selected artworks may be reserved for a limited period at ORTAK’s discretion. Reservations are not confirmed until agreed by us in writing and may require a deposit.

As availability can change quickly, please contact us with the title or link to the work you are considering. We will confirm whether a temporary reservation can be arranged and explain any applicable terms.

Do you offer artist commissions or bespoke works?

Yes. Selected ORTAK artists accept commissions for private collectors, interior designers and residential, commercial or hospitality projects.

Payments

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept PayPal and all major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and American Express. A bank transfer is also accepted.

Are prices inclusive of VAT?

Yes. All prices displayed on the ORTAK website include VAT where applicable.

For artworks delivered outside the UK, UK VAT may not apply. The final amount will depend on the delivery destination and the applicable tax treatment of the order. Any import VAT, customs duties or local taxes charged in the destination country are not included unless otherwise stated.

Can I pay in instalments?

We do not currently offer payment by instalments. Full payment is required when an order is placed.

How will I know when my order has gone through?

We will send you an email to acknowledge that we have received your order. The email will include your order summary, unique order number, your billing information. If you do not receive a confirmation email after placing an order, please contact our Customer Service team for further assistance.

Will I need to pay import duties or local taxes?

Orders delivered outside the UK may be subject to import VAT, customs duties, local taxes or handling charges imposed by the destination country.

These charges are determined by the local customs authority and are normally the responsibility of the recipient. As requirements vary between countries, we recommend checking the applicable rules before placing your order.

How can I request a VAT invoice?

If you have a business in the UK, you are eligible to apply for a VAT invoice. To request an invoice, please kindly submit your request via email to orders@ortakworks.com.

If your package appears to be lost in transit, please contact us as soon as possible at orders@ortakworks.com, and we will work with the delivery provider to investigate.

For UK orders, if the parcel has not been marked as delivered and has not arrived within 30 days, we will arrange a replacement or offer an appropriate resolution.

For international orders, please also contact your local postal or customs service, as they may be able to provide further information or assist with a claim. Replacement terms for international shipments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Please retain all original packaging until the matter has been resolved, as it may be required for an insurance claim.

Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations

Gift cards are non-refundable. Any additional exclusions will be clearly stated on the relevant product page.

Are commissioned or made-to-order works returnable?

If the artwork has not yet been dispatched or prepared as part of a bespoke order, we will cancel the order and arrange a refund. If it has already been dispatched, you may need to receive and return it in accordance with our returns process.

Who is responsible for return delivery costs?

If you are returning an artwork because you have changed your mind, you will be responsible for the return delivery cost.

ORTAK will cover reasonable return costs where the artwork is faulty, damaged on arrival or not as described. Please contact us before arranging a return so that we can confirm the appropriate delivery method.

How should an artwork be packaged for return?

Artwork must be returned securely and, wherever possible, in its original packaging. Please reuse all protective wrapping, corner protection, cartons or crates supplied with the order.

The artwork must be adequately protected and returned using a tracked and appropriately insured delivery service. We recommend photographing the artwork and packaging before dispatch.

Please do not return an artwork without first receiving return instructions from ORTAK.

When will I receive my refund?

Approved refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned artwork or receiving evidence that it has been sent back, whichever occurs first.

Refunds will usually be issued to the original payment method. We may withhold or reduce a refund if the artwork has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary or is returned damaged due to inadequate packaging.

Where required by law, the original standard delivery charge will also be refunded. Additional costs for express, specialist or upgraded delivery services may not be refundable.

Can I exchange an artwork for another work?

An exchange may be possible, subject to the availability of the requested artwork and approval of the original return.

As many works are unique, we cannot reserve or guarantee an alternative piece until the return has been agreed. Any difference in price, delivery or framing costs will need to be paid or refunded as appropriate.

Orders

How do I place an order?

You can order online via our website and pay at checkout, or contact us directly to place an order at orders@ortaworks.com.

How are shipping costs calculated?

Shipping costs depend on several factors, including destination, dimensions, product cost, and weight. International orders may also incur import taxes and customs duties. Please note that Alabas is not responsible for any duties, taxes, or handling fees charged at the time of delivery.

Can I make changes to my order after placing it?

If you need to update the name or other details on your order, please contact our Customer Service team as soon as possible to avoid any delivery delays.

What happens if an artwork is no longer available?

As many artworks are unique, there may occasionally be instances where a work has sold elsewhere before our availability records have been updated.

If this happens, we will contact you promptly and issue a full refund. We may also suggest alternative works by the same artist or pieces with a similar character, material or scale.

Can I purchase more than one artwork in the same order?

Yes. You can purchase multiple artworks in a single order.

Depending on their size, location and framing requirements, the works may be packaged and delivered separately. Any relevant delivery information will be confirmed before dispatch.

Can I send an artwork as a gift?

Yes. An artwork can be purchased and delivered as a gift.

Please enter the recipient’s delivery address when placing your order. You can also contact us if you would like to include a personal message or require discreet packaging without pricing information.

delivery

Where do you deliver?

ORTAK delivers throughout the UK and to selected international destinations.

International delivery availability may depend on the size, weight, value and location of the artwork. Please contact us if your destination is not available at checkout or if you would like a delivery quotation before purchasing.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery costs are calculated according to the size, weight, framing requirements, value and destination of the artwork.

Where possible, the delivery charge will be shown at checkout. For larger, fragile or international works, we may contact you with a tailored quotation before the order is confirmed.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Delivery times vary depending on the location of the artwork, whether framing is required and the destination address.

Estimated lead times will be provided on the artwork page, at checkout or in your order confirmation. We will contact you if any additional preparation is required before dispatch.

How is artwork packaged?

Each artwork is carefully packaged according to its size, medium and level of fragility.

Depending on the work, packaging may include protective wrapping, reinforced cartons, corner protection or a custom-built crate. Our aim is to ensure that every piece is secure and appropriately protected throughout transit.

Will my order be insured during transit?

Where applicable, artworks are insured while in transit until they are delivered to the address provided.

Please inspect the package on arrival and notify us immediately if there are any visible signs of damage. Insurance cover may be subject to the terms and conditions of the appointed courier or specialist art handler.

My package is lost. What should I do?

If your package appears to be lost in transit, please contact us as soon as possible at orders@ortakworks.com, and we will work with the delivery provider to investigate.

For UK orders, if the parcel has not been marked as delivered and has not arrived within 30 days, we will arrange a replacement or offer an appropriate resolution.

For international orders, please also contact your local postal or customs service, as they may be able to provide further information or assist with a claim. Replacement terms for international shipments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that ORTAK cannot accept responsibility for parcels that have been confirmed as delivered by the courier but are subsequently lost or stolen.

Can you arrange specialist art delivery or installation?

Yes. Specialist art handling, white-glove delivery and installation may be arranged for larger, higher-value or particularly delicate works.

These services are quoted separately and may include delivery to the room of choice, unpacking, placement and professional installation.

Can I collect an artwork directly?

Collection may be possible depending on the location of the artwork or artist’s studio.

Please contact us before placing your order so that we can confirm whether collection is available and arrange a suitable date and time. Collection must not be attempted without prior agreement.

What should I do if my order arrives damaged?

Please photograph the outer packaging and the artwork before removing or disposing of any materials.

Contact us as soon as possible at orders@ortakworks.com with your order number, photographs and a description of the damage. We will review the issue and work with the courier, artist or studio to arrange the most appropriate resolution.

Please retain all original packaging until the matter has been resolved, as it may be required for an insurance claim.

Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations

What is your return policy?

We take care to provide accurate descriptions, dimensions and images of every artwork and object featured on our website. However, we understand that a work may feel different once viewed in person.

Eligible unframed prints, original artworks, and objects purchased online may be returned. Please email us at orders@ortakworks.com within 14 days of receiving your order to request a return. Once your return has been approved, the item must be sent back within a further 14 days.

Returned works must be unused, undamaged and in their original condition and packaging. Unless the item is faulty, damaged or not as described, the customer is responsible for the cost of return delivery.

Custom-framed, commissioned, personalised or made-to-order works cannot be returned. Works that are not returned in their original condition may also be subject to a reduction in the refund to reflect any loss in value.

If your order arrives damaged, please photograph the artwork, the external packaging and all internal protective materials. Notify ORTAK at orders@ortakworks.com as soon as possible so that we can assess the damage and arrange an appropriate resolution. Please retain all packaging until the matter has been resolved.

Gift cards are non-refundable. Any additional exclusions will be clearly stated on the relevant product page.

Are commissioned or made-to-order works returnable?

No. Commissioned, bespoke, personalised or made-to-order works cannot be returned or cancelled once production has begun.

This does not affect your statutory rights if the artwork is faulty, damaged or does not correspond with the agreed commission.

Can I cancel my order before it is dispatched?

Yes. Please contact us at orders@ortakworks.com as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your order.

Please contact us at orders@ortakworks.com to discuss the works you are considering.
